Athletics Skills Award Scheme
|
- The Athletics Skills Award Program (ASAP) is a skills certificate system
developed exclusively by the Little Athletics Association of NSW.
-
- It is the recommended skill development program of Australian Little
Athletics. The program, which aims to ensure that all participants are
provided with the opportunity to develop confidence and competence in a wide
range of general skills, and track and field events, is available for use by
all Little Athletics members throughout NSW.
-
- ASAP recognises skill development through the use of nine graded
achievement levels, all of which are contained in an ASAP passbook.
- The passbook can be obtained by anyone wishing to be involved in the
program. As certificate items are achieved, a participant progresses through
the levels, using their personal passbook to keep a record of their
development.
-
- An award level is achieved when all items within that level have been
successfully completed. LAANSW- accredited ASAP examiners conduct the
testing of ASAP skills.
-
- Examiners for these awards must possess an examiner number obtained from
LAANSW.
- A participant can be examined at any time for items on any level, not just
the level at which they are currently attempting to complete, with
participants progressing through the levels at their own rate, irrespective
of age.
-
- A young person's participation in ASAP will prove a fun, rewarding
experience, and ultimately lead to the development of a higher level of
athletic skills.
-
- ASAP books are available from your Little Athletics Centre
- or the Little Athletics Association of NSW office
- for a cost of $3.
